Seems that they are starting to crack down on the non dot helmets around here,,,can anyone tell me the penalty? fine? points on license? impound of bike? etc,,,

 

Great question, though I hadn't heard much about the crackdown in NC.. what are you hearing and from where? (probably prolific, I just keep my head in the sand on this)...

get some dot stikers,,,that'll make em think....

 

NC has been notorious for years at Deal's Gap. usually they hold the rider until someone get him a DOT helmet or they write a ticket.

 

im in the carthage/robbins area,,they are actually checking the inside of the helmet for legality..in robbins alone last weekend...25 citations..i think its a new highway patrol, trying to makea statement,,,not sure,,,i can not find the penalty,,,$100 fine,,,no prob...points on the license or worse..i'll start wearing the dot helmet...

rumor is they are actually checking inside the helmet..supposedly a tag in the cushion inside?? i still havent seen if it adds points on your license...some say its like a seat belt ticket..looks like we could find a straight answer somewhere,,,

 

what gives them the right to pull you over in the first place if you did not do nothing wrong?....to check a dot helmet?
