Default Tank badging

All -

Had a bit of an issue with my bike, short story - I have a replacement fuel tank coming. It's a 2013 Fat Bob in the Hard Candy Orange.

While the stock badges are nice - they are kind of bland and so long as I'm changing tanks, may as well change those too.

My questions are these:

1. How are they attached? Some high bond tape?
2. I assume that most badges would fit my tank across similar bike lines?
3. Any specific emblem/badge you all like? I know I haven't seen them all out there so there might be something I like better.

I really like these but don't know how they actually attach to the tank:

Its just 3M tape. Make sure the tank is clean.

And make sure they're where you want them before you stick them. Once they touch the tank you're not moving them.

OP, your local dealer should have a good selection out of the P&A catalog in stock. It may be that your tank is not listed in the applications for the badge. Not to worry. Take the tank in and place the badge where you want it on the tank.

If it fits purty close but not exact, either be satisfied. ..cuz back in the day, fit was vague at best...or be prepared to work on it until it does.

With regard to what we out here on the World Wide Web like...who gives a rip? Make it YOUR motorcycle. ..not OUR motorcycle!

I find it best to create a paper template of the emblems, then tape it wherever I think it looks good. I am very picky so I find myself changing it a number of times before I decide.

I also use a grease pencil to "chalk" up some reference points to guide its placement (e.g horizontal alignment, distance from front of tank, etc.)

As for adhesive, I get it at my local auto parts store. 3M tape is specially made to adhere automobile emblems and so it is ideal for this task.

I think he's just asking for suggestions. He isn't offering his bike up to someone who makes a suggestion.

My riding partner has a friend in the graphics business and he made a pair of "decals" similar to the '61-'62's that someone posted earlier.

After the bike was custom painted, the painted put the decals on the tank and "clear-coated" over them with several coats and you couldn't feel the edges of the decals.

Some folks like emblems while others prefer decals or pin-striping. All a matter of choice.

I used painters tape after I found where I want them on the tank as a reference. Do this for both sides.

I put those Night Train badges on my '14 Heritage. Fit my theme of things nicely. Like others have said. Make sure surface is clean (alcohol), measure from front, top, and put a piece of painters tape for reference. Backings are rubber and stick good so make sure it's where you want it. Use some painters tape and tack the badge down over night. Good luck man
