Would a Harley still be cool if we couldn't put pipes on?

Deep pipes are cool. Loud pipes are annoying and serve no purpose other than to bring attention to the rider.
Flame on.

One of the first things that attracted me to Harleys when I was a kid was the rumble. Every weekend I would hear them rolling by. There was a HA rally house a few miles down the road. I'd hear them before I saw them and would always go sit out on the front porch and watch them roll by. I knew someday I would be rolling on one of those shiney, loud machines.
Would a Harley be a Harley w/o the rumble?? Of course it would. Would it be the same?? Probably not. Still wouldn't keep me from buying one.

Stock pipes are just too blah for me. It's great to hear that motor bark when you get on it. Just wouldn't be the same if it went "putt, putt".

Harley is all about image, so I don't think it would matter. Of the over 273,000 bikes Harley shipped last year in the US alone, how many actually get ridden much beyond the weekend trip to the shop, to a local bike night, or the occasional rally? For many new owners, they are a status symbol, like that fancy ski boat or jet ski that spends most of its life on a trailer next to the garage. As long as the 'bad boy' image retains its appeal, that machine with the Harley logo on the tank will command a premium dollar and there are those who will pay the price, no matter what it sounds like.

That is the best and most truthful post I've ever
read about Harleys!
You are right on the money my friend"

My definition of cool is probably a little different than most here. I think ALL Motorcycles are cool.
The newest thing ive seen is some folks working on developing an electric powered motorcycle. I thought it was pretty cool.
What I DON'T think is cool is eletist snob posers. I think they are TOOL's

You absolutly have to put pipes on a HArley. If that statement is not supported by the hundreds of exhaust manufactures out there I do not know what is.
I had my stock SG next to my brother in laws with SEIIs when i got it and wanted more, even his was not enough. So I had to go to Hard Krome Trual Duals.
