Used Harley's at an Indian dealer is no indication that there's a rush to ditch the Harley for an Indian.
Especially at a "powersport" dealer. Alot but not all used inventory at such dealers comes from open sales such as former rental bikes and used bikes sent to auction by dealers to lower their inventory.
Dealer in most states must pay tax on every bike that just sits on the floor and sending them off to auction is a quick way to lower inventory and reduce monthly loses. This is also a buyer beware market!
If the Harley or any other dealer didn't want it on their floor why would you want it on yours? I'm just saying watch what and where you buy!

I have to agree with some of the previous posts that the Indian dealer especially a Polaris powersport dealer are getting most of their used Harley inventory at the auction. My local Indian dealer, per county records, sells mostley used bikes and very few new Indians so they are not getting their inventory from Harley trade-ins.

One of my local Harley dealers has several Indians on the floor but they're REAL Indians, as in real old Indians.

I would be more inclined to buy a used bike from a private owner rather than an auction buggy. If a dealer doesn't keep a used Harley, he knows something about that bike and that's why he's willing to part with it cheap. Dealers keep the best and auction the rest. Just one guy's opinion.

I bought my 2002 Fat Boy from an Indian dealer. They had a bunch of used bikes, not just Harleys, but I would say that more used Harleys than any other brand. The Fat Boy was super clean and the price was on the low side of what I was seeing for private sale ones. They did have some kind of sale going that weekend. I went in there to look at a a new Scout because I was hearing lots of good things about them.

I have been in 3 Indian dealers and all of them had a pretty good selection of used Harleys. One of the salesmen I was BSing with told me they bought most of them at used bike auctions.

Pulled in to the parking lot of a restaurant one day. Guy was coming out, had brand new Harley boots, jacket and vest. Smelled like a leather factory. I parked next to his bike, brand new Harley Ultra. He looked at my bike and said, "Love what you've done to your Harley". Only problem was, I was on my Yamaha 1100 Classic that day.

Just smiled and said thanks. LOL
