What's really funny about this whole thread is that MOST of the riders commenting didn't have or want Harleys back when they were young. They were mostly busy "Meeting the nicest people" on their 50-350cc rice burners.

True. Harley's problem isn't unique. Every company uses marketing to attract new customers. Problem is, the entire motorcycle industry is in decline. Also, Harley waited too long to change its marketing focus. They're losing core customers to old age, and young customers or millennials have other financial priorities. Harley had the opportunity to sell sportbikes with Buell and MV Agusta, but they mismanaged the brands. The Street series bikes and new Sportster models are a step in the right direction.

I have a 17 year old and a 12 year old. Both boys. Both help me work on the bike, and talk about how someday they are gonna ride Harley Davidsons. They are of course the generation of cell phones and Xbox..... however not all is lost. The future depends on us, teaching our children.

I know an amazing amount of millennials who have NO interest in getting their car drivers license! I just dont understand this. A drivers license is a ticket to freedom and independence. Im 51 and we counted down the days till we got our drivers license, couldn't wait! It seems kids today have no sense of adventure, getting dirty under the hood of a car or bike, or doing anything REAL. Seems like being on Mommas teet till they are 40 is all their thterested in.

I can tell you that they do. As I've posted pretty regularly in these types of threads... I'm 24 and I ride a road glide, before that a road king. My best riding buddy is 22 and rides a road glide too, before that a street glide. But of course, no matter how many times I post this, everybody still generalizes people my age. I guess everybody was perfect and everybody got along back when you guys were all growing up...nobody had different interests or outlooks on life. Fascinating.
