These HD parts, certainly the manufacturer has a return policy for the dealers. Pizza Hut did a study years ago, that said in short, for every disapointed customer they loose 320 additional customers from word of mouth. I am certain my dip stick failure wont cause HD to lose any sleep, but sometimes the right thing to do, is the right thing to do.

I guess I've been lucky but mine's almost two years old and have had no probs with it except changing the battery once. I like it though an analog one would be cool and less prone to probs admittedly.

Based on the "online" price listing of $99.95, it is a true "Hundred Dollar" (HD) component...

Good luck getting this resolved. I would own one, but have heard of too many failures.

If only they made it in analog like they do the sloptails.

Ok here's the info

Oil Dipstick with Temperature Gauge
Part number: 62666-87TA or 62635-79TA for touring bikes. They make a couple of different ones so check which one is for your bike.

Bluerose,

Are those harley part numbers? wow, never heard of the ones for Touring bikes... let me look for that...

OK I looked but appears to not be for newer model touring bikes, maybe the older ones. Someone please tell me I'm wrong though!

Just kidding...

My first bike was the white Heritage <---- on the left.

On edit, I think those analog ones at HD are for the older bikes. The analog dipstick I used on my Heritage is in the garage and still keeping track of garage temps!

Had a riding friend who had problems with his. Local shop just swapped them out. Haven't had any issues with mine yet, but the year ain't out either.

yeah,HD makes the analog one's for touring bikes..................if they're built before 1995.

Arizona and Edmo are correct. Older...

...FYI

I don't even see any aftermarket analog oil temp gauges either.

I'm sure the 30 day policy on the receipt is for a plain old return (item that you just didn't want etc, not a defective) - this is a warranty issue not a "return" per se
