Does any body know if it is illegal to use a headlight modulator in Maryland?

The modulator is definately an eye catcher.

It flashes just like some cop car headlights when they have their sparklers going. Maybe the PA cops don't like it because now they aren't the only ones with "flashy" lights on their vehicles.

I put the SDC Diamond-Star on my RKC. It works like a charm.

I have heard good things about the Kriss modulator that they developed specifically for Harleys.

Once you have one, you will not regret it as far as I am concerned. Cheap insurance.

Ride safe, my friends.

it got me a ticket in Tennessee. trooper wouldn't have paid any attention to me if he hadn't caught the modulation. i don't turn mine on until i see some cage about to put me at risk, then i turn it on and then back off when the danger is past. here in alabama people will pull out in front of you, cuss you and give you the bird. i have been told "you weren't supposed to be there", "you are supposed to go around", and the most absurd was "there's three lanes there." leave alabama and pullouts become rarer.

From the PDF given above By pococj
http://jeff.dean.home.att.net/modulator_headlamp.pdf

This Federal law supersedes all state laws and makes
motorcycle headlight modulators legal in all 50 states.
FMVSS 108

(Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards)
(49 CFR Part 571.108 S7.9.4) allows motorcycle
headlight modulation systems all 50 states provided they
comply with the standards set forth in this section. Title
49 USC 30103 (b1)

(US Codes) prohibits any state
from forbidding a system that conforms to FMVSS 108.

What did the LEO cite you for? I hope it wasn't for the modulator, cuz' it is LEGAL!!!!

When did this happen and how much was the ticket?

Just wonderin', because of my recent stop by a 17 year uninformed LEO!
