Default Northeast 2~3 day trip suggestions...

I just got my Road King back from the dealer (see my spoke wheel failure post) and it rides like new again. Because we are short-handed at my job here, I only have weekends and maybe a Friday or two off for the forseeable future - no vacation this summer [&o] Which shoots my plans of Nova Scotia all to He**. Can anyone suggest good rides and destinations that'll only take a few days? I'm on Long Island in New York and figuring instead of just heading out aimlessly, I would ask for help. Thanks in advance for any/all suggestions! Tell me what's good out there in New England, Upstate New york, down in Maryland and DC, etc... I gotta eat up these weekends.

Don't miss Skyline Drive in Luray Virginia. Great riding, great camping and it is not too hot up there in the summer

just about any out of the way place in new england is pretty, how about upstate NY or western MA, just pick some back roads and go. I enjoyed every minute of riding when I was in MA and NH for the Laconia gig. Something different is always nice.

If you only have a weekend, I'd head up to the Lake George area and the mountains around there. I haven't been there yet(it's on my list), but I hear it's awesome riding.

Lake George sounds nice! I hadn't thought about that. Laconia and NH might be cool too, I have been there before, but it sure is pretty. There's a lot to see around here and now I can't wait for the weekend!

Hey Drich57,
I'm from queens, last summer I did a trip to New Paltz area.
Lot's of B&B's...........nice riding all around.
It's a bit closer than other areas mentioned.
All of upstate is good riding.
Another close one is bear mountain,.rout 9A for scenic.
If you do skyline drive Va. like someone mentioned Louray caverns is one of the best in the country, if you like that sort of thing.

Dont forget if you can sneak out on a Thursday afternoon, York PA has the Harley plant. They offer free Tours weekdays and an hour west of there is Gettysburg PA.

I've been to Lake George, for Americade, the ride around the lake is a good take, around lake placid area wasn't bad either. Just got back from New Hampshire, Laconia, another good area, White Mountain area, Kangamangus (though there is road work), ect. Western,MA, Cape Cod, Martha's Vinyard are all great. It really depends on what you are looking for, Sun and Sand, Peaciful Bliss in the Mountains.
