Default Garmin GPSMAP 276

Anyone use one of these on their bike? I’m looking for another all weather GPS for my bike and ATV since my old Zumo 450 is done...no “use my phone” commentary please; not for my situation

Is that a new unit? The latest I am aware of is the 590LM. I have had the zumo 660 and Roatech 660. Those can be found pretty reasonably priced now.

It appears to be a more versatile unit with topographical mapping etc etc...for use on boats and ATV's; might be nice on a bike...

Default New GPS

I had a DeLorme hand held GPS that I used on the bike for a while. It wasn't ideal for the bike other than it was waterproof. It didn't reroute you if you missed a turn, not all the roads were listed in the data base, etc. It was great for hiking and being in the woods but lame for the bike.
The Garmin 276s a marine based unit...I would check with Garmin before I bought one for the bike.

looking at it on the garmin site, it seems you have to purchase the 'automotive' kit to use it on land, otherwise it just gives you interstates and highways.

also appears to be discontinued....

Navigate on Land
On land, the GPSMAP 276C’s autoroute basemap can route you on interstates and major highways. For even more detail, get the optional automotive kit (sold separately), which includes City Navigator® detailed maps, a data card and an automotive mount. With this kit, just load the detailed street maps on your 276C and pop it into the automotive mount for voice-prompted turn-by-turn directions to over six million addresses and points of interest, including restaurants, hotels, gas stations, marinas and other attractions.

For that money I would opt for their latest motorcycle unit, the 595LM. Designed for motorcycles and if it is any better than the 660 I would consider it a bargain. I seem to remember when it first came out it was $900, now $700. Trust me, you want a motorcycle unit.
