Default Windshield and rain

Question: I have always rode softails and recently went to a ultra classic. It has wierks windshield. I usually wear a half helmet with no shield and was wondering how this would work in rain? Is the windshield going to deflect the rain enough so I can still see to ride. I also wear glasses. It wasn't a problem on the softail, but I think the windshield might have been higher. Just haven't rode this bike in the rain yet. Thanks for any information.

I have a 10" shield on my bike and I also wear glasses. Rain still comes down on my face. I need to install wipers on my glasses.

You will not know until you actually ride in the rain your own self. There are way too many factors in play for any of us out here on the World Wide Web to be able to hazard a meaningful guess.

Although.you are gonna get many an answer anyway. Just stand by...they're on the way...

Get a 3/4 helmet with a face shield and forget the windshield...unless you're in a car, where it belongs.

Pretty sage advice here...although one may prefer a full or modular helmet...

I ride an Ultra Classic. The stock shield offered some protection but I went with an LRS. The curved shield offers some additional protection but one must get the height correct. I selected one that I can look over...some riders like to look through. Looking through a rain soaked shield doesn't work for me.

As suggested above, you might have to experiment with different models/heights to find one that meets your needs.

Good luck!

I have LRS 14 curved dose a good job in the rain but will not keep the rain out of your face with a half helmet. Works well with glasses but if i am riding in the rain i use a 3/4 helmet with a sheild. Its going to be tough to find a sheild to do what your looking for but there are ton of them for sale. Windshields are like shoes you need to try them on first.

You will want a clear shield like this for you helmet.
Occasionally sticking your head out in the wind blast keeps the shield clean and ample ventilation keeps it from fogging up in stop and go traffic.

There's a variety of "Rain-X" that works for polycarbonate. This may help. The regular "Rain-X" is for glass ONLY.
If I'm caught in the rain, I'll turn my head sideways momentarily and let the wind clear my face shield enough to see. I wear a Shoei RF-1200 with no w'shield. (They belong on cages.)
