Starting to learn the value of earplugs

Starting to learn the value of earplugs
Did a short 100 mile ride and when I got home I realized that my ears were ringing, kinda like after a concert or something really loud.
I never realized the wind noise before as being that loud, except today I did.
I think I'll keep a small roll of toilet paper in my fork bag. It may come in handy for more than just earplugs.....

The older you get, the longer it takes for the ringing to go away. I finally had a doctor tell me that if I want to keep what is left of my hearing, I gotta start wearing earplugs when I ride. That sux, but it has stopped the ringing.

I just about completely lost my hearing for a week after riding 250 miles with out ear plugs. I ride short trips with out them but over 50 miles I wear them. If you do some searches on the net you will find the wind has the same db of a rock concert and permant damage will happen if you dont wear ear plugs.

i'm just usin regular foam plugs but wonder if there's something out there that will block the wind and still let me hear the traffic and my stereo?

I always wear earplugs, or the noise-isolating in-ear monitors for use with my mp3 player if I'm going to be doing any riding on the highway. Even 15 minutes at highway speed hurts my ears. In town, I go plugless.
Cheers!

Been wearing them since I got back into riding last year and won't do anything more than a short ride around town without them. I give pairs of my earplugs to friends to try them and most are hooked.

I use the Westone ER-20 filtering plugs. hold a conversation, hear traffic, radio, but cuts wind noise and most of the truck noise. Work really well.

Ear plugs are the best thing since sliced bread. Been wearing them for 3 years anytime the ride is going to be over 50 MPH.
I like the soft latex ones good for 32kb. You can still hear sirens etc just fine. It's the only way I can hear the radio at highway speed.
Check out the Earplugstore for really low prices.
