Default Riding in the relaxed position.

Today I was out for a relaxing ride and got behind a gentleman on another bike. I was behind him and every time he'd take his left arm off the bar, he'd dip the shoulder and jerk right to left? He wouldn't sweeve out of the lane but it was enough to make me not want to ride behind.

Am I the only one with that doesn't like to be in this position?

I saw the same person a bit later tonight doing the same thing almost kiss the side of a car
I applaud him wanting to ride but, this is a case where one needs a riding class.

I think the only time I'd get next to him would be at a stop light or sign. Then, I would advise him to take a less traveled road and/or take a riding class until he got more comfortable on the bike.

Thank you for your comments, they have caused me to take pause, and remind myself to not criticize how other folks ride. bad Karma!

numb hands, shoulder painful ...

I broke hand, wrist and shoulder on right side in my teens and now 40 - 50 years later occasionally have to take my hand of the handlebar when the pain/numbness gets too much. Don't swerve into traffic though.

I would drop back or turn onto another road and I sure would not stop and tell him how to ride his own damn bike.

When I rode my fat boy from Oklahoma to Florida, I moved around on the bike as often as necessary.. Highway pegs, foot boards, even passenger pegs, sometimes just one leg, sometimes both.. And shifted from one cheek to the other constantly.. I do drop my left arm at cruising speed, but not light to light, and my right hand very rarely leaves the throttle (I hate cruise control, and will never use the thumbscrew for that).. Throttle bosses, or whatever you wanna call em are awesome, use the butt of your hand to keep a speed and wiggle your fingers til they aren't numb anymore.. (only at cruising, not light to light). And I never have both hands off the bars when riding, that's just stupid..
