Ok, just got off the phone.
Rear bearing fell apart.
Bike has about 6800 miles on it, should have lasted waaay longer than that. Must have been a fluke. I don't think they would have done anything to this area on the 5,000 mile service.
Also have a leak where my clutch cable enters that's being fixed. The clunk sound is currently being chalked up to the bearing being messed up, which given that it wasn't a hard clunk but sounded more like my license plate being flicked (off to the side on a Lowrider S, mine is vertical so only half supported, though I do have tape on it to help keep it from rattling) maybe it just shook it right to make that noise when the bearing caught. Changing gear at the time would have introduced the RPMS differently. If it was something else find out next week...
...because they have to order in a new rear wheel because mine got gouged when trying to remove the bearing.
I was supposed to get in the rear pegs and mounts today as well, but the train that had the package derailed. Not like I could put them on anyways. But I will have a cute blonde on the back of this bike, they can't stop me, lol.
Oh well. No worries. Hurray for warranties.

In 1994, I had a stealership do some rear tire work under warranty once.
I picked it up and hopped on the freeway- nothing seemed off.
Came to slowing traffic and hit the rear brake- it felt like my rear tire rolled under my seat and the rpms went up.
I nursed it off the road with my front brake and found the problem.
The technicians failed to tighten my axle alignment bolts causing the axle to slide forward and back.
I called them about it- no yelling- just never gave them business again.
The Occam's razor theory applies- wheels out of alignment or tracking due to failure of either wheel components or frame attachment(s).

Not sure how fubared the bearing was, it's possible to get it out they had to go about it a not so textbook way. Or maybe the bearing caused some damage. All I know is they called Harley and Harley told them they had to replace the wheel. I'll try to see it in person. Glad the wheels were stock and not powder coated or something.
And yes, God was looking out for me on that freeway. The section I was on is crazy at the best of times.
And I'll be sure to look over the bike when I get it back. At least it isn't 70 degrees and sunny, not really giving up any prime riding time.
