Default Who bought non HD jacket and added patches. Send Pics.

I'm looking at getting a new leather jacket. Really like the HD leather but feel I can get a better quality jacket, such as a Fox Creek, for less and add my own patches. Looking for pictures of non HD jackets that people have added patches to.

Pretty common for the average Joe, me included.

I wouldn't buy an expensive 'Fox Creek' jacket and sew patches on it...b.

Why not? You pay more for a hd jacket which I'm not sure if same quality as fox Creek but already has patches.

Put patches on a vest, not the jacket. You start poking holes in a jacket, you're gonna have leaks, water and air. Your stuff, do what you want.

I had patches sewn on my old jacket. Sorry, no pics. I will say that it wasn't a problem the way some people told me it would be.

One thing to keep in mind is that the stitching goes through the liner as well as the jacket, unless you get a jacket with a removable liner.

The reason you don't sew anything on your jacket is because if you're ever caught in the rain the water goes right through the holes made when you sewed whatever patches onto your jacket.

My first jacket I sewed some patches on and then learned why that was a bad idea in the first rainstorm I hit.
I replaced the jacket the next day and have never sewn anything on a jacket since.

If I were to purchase a top of the line leather jacket like those from foxcreek, I certainly would not sew or have patches sewn on it. If one wants to go that route, there are plenty of less expensive leather jackets available.
