Cleaning brake caliper

Cleaning brake caliper
On a previous thread I was asking about a possible sticking rear brake caliper on my 2013 Eglide. The rotor was very hot to the touch. It was suggested I use brake clean and a small brush (toothbrush) to clean the caliper. Not having done this before I assume I should remove the brake pads so I can have access to the caliper and pistons and go from there. Am I on the right track here or am I missing anything.
(I'll also me looking at the brake pedal to see if it is sticking.)

I would ensure the pedal is ok before tearing into caliper.
When I bought my 04 RK, the fronts were sticking. I removed calipers, removed pads, put a paint stick where pads were, press brakes, clean the crap from around pistons. Worked great, you can see what sticks.
