Why is Harley riding on a decline?

Don't know about others, but I'm returning to HD. Had HD's many moons ago; went to British bikes, Japanese bikes, and German bikes. But, now after riding all the above, and renting and riding the newer HD's for a couple of months, I'm returning to HD for a multitude of reasons. I love touring, and for me, there's nothing like the HD bagger.

For most of the people that I've talked to, it is the price but some have found a way around that and are buying used.

Been around a long time....
Back in the day 70's all you saw were Jap bikes everywhere.
The 80's and early 90's were the sport bike craze.
Now everywhere I go I see pretty much all Harley's with the exception of a few wing dingers and a Indian thrown in for good measure.

I think this is intended to get buyers that have made a decision to move sooner rather than later. I can't imagine a buyer looking at Harley deciding to buy Honda (or vice versa) because of a teaser rate.

Sell Harley stock-Buy Vespa?
A better question on the subject might be:
"Where are all the young people with good paying jobs?
Where are all the young people that are gung-ho on everything nostalgic from the 60s including looking like Sonny Barger?
Where are all the young Vietnam Vets with a desire to promote being "all-American" and hanging out with their buddies while wearing patch jackets that proclaim they are from the 60s?
Where are all the young blue collar do-it-yourself mechanics that can frame a house or work on a transmission, (hint: Mexicans don't count)?
Where are all the young folks that think "showing off" is a new Harley instead of a new cell phone?
Answer: Things change, it's a new day.
And NOTHING Harley can do here in the United States will change the buying pattern of the millennials I see riding Vespas and wearing flip flops.
Harley is so OVER.
Maybe Harley should buy Vespa.
Don't get me wrong.
I love MY Harley and riding it is one of life's great pleasures.
But I was here in the 60s when Harleys were unfashionable and I rode them anyway.
Then all you folks with tons of bread came along and "discovered" Harley.
And the gold rush began and the marketing went into overdrive.
Which means I have seen this all before and really don't give a dam what happens.
Being popular and fashionable gives me the creeps.
Let's ride.
