Windex is bad. Plexus works well.

Hogwash from Long ride shields works good. Expensive, but a little goes a long way.

Another Plexus fan. One of my AF buddies says there are aircraft spec cleaners that work well too.

I wash my Road King's windshield when I wash the bike. I start with S 100, and wash with Gunk or Turtle Wax car wash concentrate. Bugs are mostly protein and are best removed with cold or cool water.

A 50/50 mixture of Hydrogen Peroxide and water works well to remove bug splats. Spray it on, it will begin to foam up, let is sit for a few minutes and then wipe clean.

Meguiars spray on wax also works very well to clean and helps prevent stuff from really sticking to the windshield.

The rule of thumb for plastic shields is:If it's made for glass ,dont use it. If you want it to look new for a long time, after cleaning use car polish, then some good wax. These products are made for acrylic & polyurethane and are safe. They will keep the fine scratches at bay.

Ammonia dries the oil out of most plastic windshields which will cause crazing (small cracks)

Also, don't use paper towels on plastic windshields as they will scratch them. Use a micro fiber towel or a simple old cotton t shirt.

And besides the products specifically identified for plastic windshields you can also use Lemon Pledge. It is fairly common to use that on small aircraft windshields which are far more expensive than what we pay for our bikes
