Ask yourself this why do you ride? Does the club lifestyle fit what you want or need in your life?
I ride because I enjoy riding. 1 mile or 10k miles it doesn't matter it makes me happy. When you add politics, rules, mandatory participation, and crowds of people I don't enjoy things so club life wasn't for me.

Just wondering if can get some insights. I just bought a 1995 Sporty. I've been reading this news site about Bikers . I've always heard about motorcycle clubs , I'm not very familiar with them since this is just the first bike I've owned. How accurate is this article ? Reason I ask is because I friend of mine invited me to hang out with him and some that are in a small club. I do not know if the club is approved ,Don't really know what that means

As for your friend inviting you to hang out with their club. Have fun. But, if their club sports an MC cube but hasn't been approved by the COC, walk the other way. They are asking for problems. If their cut has the upper and lower rockers claiming a territory and haven't been approved by the COC. Run the other way. If they have a 1%er diamond and haven't been approved by the COC, run as fast as you can to get away. (COC = "Confederation of Clubs") Oh, and according to the title of the articles question, YES protocols DO matter!
If the club is just a riding club (RC) go for it.
If it's just a bunch of guys who like to ride together, great. No club patches, name patches, or rank patches is necessary or desirable. Y'all know who you are and leave it at that. In other words, do not pretend to be something your not!
Of course you can do whatever you want, but beware, there may be ramifications you might not be ready for
