Default Leave battery tender plugged in all winter..or give it a break once in awhile?

Like most I will also be suffering from Post Motorcycle Season this winter and will have my bike stored in my non-climate controlled garage with a battery tender plugged in to my fairly new battery. Just wondering who plugs their battery tender in once and leaves it on/hooked up all winter?, or like me...I like to leave it plugged in for a week or so, then unplugged for a week to keep the battery active, or does it even matter?

IMHO it shouldn't hurt anything. The way a smart tender is supposed to work is in between top off charges the voltage is monitored so voltage to the batt. until the tender senses a charge is required. There some with different opinions on this.

A runaway battery tender can wreak havoc on a battery. If I were you I would pull the battery and store it somewhere in the House/Apt and hit it with the tender once a week or so, AND keep an eye on it.
My Battery Tender jr. just went south and was continuously charging. I noticed it because it was in site every time I went out into the garage. The red light was lit for several days before I decided to replace it with a new one. Nothing but Green lights now.

You can give it a break on those nice days when you take it out and ride it.

I leave mine plugged in all the time. Been doing that for years with no problems. That's why they're called battery "tenders". They "tend" to your battery, so leave it plugged in all winter.

Pretty rare that I won't be able ride at least once a week during the winter here, but if I can't, I will unplug for a day or 2.
You're gonna get a lot of opinions on this.

The only time my Battery Tender is disconnected is when I am riding the bike. Sometimes I also disconnect it when I wax the bike. PERIOD. I have a tender on a generator 24/7. the same with my Tractor and my sport bike and my power washer. A true Tender can never overcharge a battery anyway. Everything I own fires up immediately, just the way I like it.

Leave it alone. Keep it plugged in.
