Default Maximum tire size

Need new tires for my 2012 Heritage. Rear is lowered about 1 1/2 inches otherwise stock. Michelin Commander 2 is what I am going with but I am wondering who has tried a larger size?
I know tires have been beat to death but cannot find info for larger. My 2005 Heritage would take a 160/80/16 rear and hoping this one will also. My thinking is that a bigger tire might last longer but my thinking is often wrong. If a larger size will work on the front I might do that too.
Anyone have experience using a bigger size?

Crap meant to put this in Softail forum
