It's more of a tool for when I get to where I'm riding. Only things a knife can really do to a bike is destroy things.

I will say I have landed on my knife going about 30mph (lol the very first time I road, only time I ever went down because I took a class after that). Benchmade 910. Broke one of the screws that held on the clip, left a bruise, hurt longer than anything else did, glad it wasn't a leatherman. Nothing that makes me think twice about carrying a pocket knife on me.

If I'm wearing pants, I've got at least one knife. Always.

Funny but I used my pocket knife just today. I went in to wall-mart to get some pistachios and some other things and I also bought a pack of earplugs Just before I left the parking lot I used my knife to open the package and get me two plugs out. LOL but it's true

My new Leatherman "REV" has a skinny hooked knife thing specifically for opening those gawd-awful bubble packages.

Happened at work the other day.

Coworker: "Do you have a knife on you?"

Me: "Am I wearing pants?"

I probably own 130-150 knives. I lost count again. I have the same three on me everyday. Currently the easy open is a Kershaw 1550 AO. That's clipped in the pocket for general cutting. That one changes as I wear one down and toss it in the to be sharpened pile and grab another knife for that role. I have some serious sharpening gear and used to be big into sharpening to high levels. I don't have the time or when I do other things are higher on the list of do.

I also carry a SAK Alox Farmer. It's a backup for those rare occasions when I forget the general cutter, when I need a thinner blade, but mostly for the few tools on it. In my left pocket is a small SAK for the scissors and a few other things. All have a purpose and I will use each at different times of the day.

I used to carry a SAK Swiss Champ on the belt years ago. I used the heck out of that thing and it shows it. Changed batteries in a car or two and many other things.

I rarely use a knife with a bike, but might use it during meal stops to cut some food. I usually drop a SAK Trekker type in the saddle or tail bag and leave it with the bike to have it always on hand.

I picked up a Leatherman Wave and have it by the computer. Will probably drop it in the bag inside the Tour Pak. Too heavy to carry. My SAK Swiss Champ is a little lighter and has pliers. Not as beefy as the Wave's, but I've used them for a LOT of things over the years. The SAK SC stays in my range bag though.

I use a regular buck knife. Have it with me all the time when I ride.

Thing is, I may only need it twice maybe 3 times a year.

Hardly use it but when you need it you need it.

Notta pocket knife. Okay, I sometimes drop a small fixed blade like the small Randall in a pocket.

When you're feeling a little cowboy on that iron horse.

When roadkill is on the menu.

One of my most hard used knives over the years.

Okay, I'll cut it out now.
