You can use a piece of a soda or beer can to wrap around the bars before you you clamp them to the risers..old school trick that still works well

Get you some sandscreen emery cloth (looks like window screen with abrasive embedded in it). Wrap it once around the bar and clamp it down, that thing will never move.

I forgot about this trick. I used to do this on my bicycles, as the handlebars were always stripped due to my excessive wheelie riding and jumping everything in site. The bars always broke before they slipped too.
