Electra Glide. What is a good price?
I have no idea what a goid price on a Harley is and don't want to get screwed. I want an Electra Glide either new or no older than 2016.
Dealer prices around me vary a lot.
assuming all are well optioned and the used ones are low mielage what should I pay for a:
2018
2017
2016

There will obviously be a price difference between dealer and private sales. Your best bet is almost always a garage Queen, a clean, low mileage bike from a ‘responsible’ owner. You’ll pay more from a dealer but you usually have more legal recourse if there are issues with the bike.
There are a lot of threads debating the new vs. used argument. Some people only buy new, others wouldn’t buy a new bike if you held a gun to their heads. There’s no right answer, re will be a right answer for YOU.
As to prices, it’ll depend,on where you buy, and when. Mods can change the price, too. There are a LOT of variables. Check the dealer websites, Craigslist, CycleTrader, etc. to get an idea of what people are asking, but be aware that the asking price and selling price aren’t always too close.
You’ll get a better response here if you find a few bikes and ask for opinions on those rather than asking the forum to research them all for you. Do some shopping to get a baseline and go from there.
Good luck.

I would take the base price for a new model, without extras, as the basis. Then allow 8,000 miles per year of previous use, without injury. Check to be sure it was maintained as prescribed in the manual. If all is good, depreciation will be roughly $2,500 per year, so if a 2018 model was listed msrp is $20,000, then a 2017 would be $17,500, a 2016 $15,000, until you reach $12.,000. It will slow down from there. Next, compare your number to the local market for used bikes.
I recently sold my 2007 Ultra for $6,000. It had 99,900 miles on it. It had been serviced regularly the whole time I owned it. I paid originally $23,000, so it depreciated $17,000 over the years, or an average of $1,700 per year. I tried to get more, but no one was interested in a high mileage bike.
You might also consider how you will use the bike. If you see yourself riding it every day to work, or taking long road trips, you'll want to buy newer or new. If this will be a weekend riding thing, you could live with an older, higher mileage choice.
Now, do what feels good to you. That's what really matters. Have fun.

Just for grins I went to our (Tulsa, OK) Craiglist and typed in "Electra Glide." Got a bunch of hits. Then I typed in minimum year "2016." Nothing in Tulsa, but a few popped up an hour's drive from here. All dealers. No private sales.
2016 Ultra Limited: 3600 miles: $21,500. Same year Ultra Classic: 34,000 miles: $14,000. Same year, another Ultra Classic: 25,000 miles: $24,500. Same year, another Ultra Classic, apparently new: 0 miles: $23,000. (Kansas, Oklahoma City, and Arkansas)
Looks like it must be a good model bike cause private owners aren't selling. Not many dealers, either.
