Default 2017 Ultra Limited vs 2018 Ultra Limited

Thinking about trading in my 2013 UC for a 2018 Limited. There are many unsold 2017 Limiteds on the showroom floor at a better deal. Are there any differences in the two model years?

Go to the Harley website, compare them side by side. You can see all the specs listed side by side.

Go for the savings. The 2017 has the new M8 engine also.

Keep the '13, it's a better bike.

Really? Oooookay...

OP, I would not worry much about the year unless you are one to flip a bike every couple years. The difference is the paint. Pretty much period. The new bikes are a dream to ride compared to previous years. And I have had (still do own) older Harley's along with a 17 RGS. If you can save money that would be my direction. Best of luck!!!

The only thing I would consider is what you save by buying a leftover model.
If you trade 17 in with in a few years, the trade call dollars will be about $2500-$3000 less at trade time due to the 1 year older model.
If you save that much or more on the leftover it's worth it. If you are financing you have to factor in the interest over the life of loan on the additional money borrowed on the 18.

Only difference is the paint options. Get which ever one makes more financial sense. Or, get which ever one offers the color you like. As soon as I see the MoCo has a fix for the transmission fluid transfer, I'll be in the market.

I would go with the 2017 as you can probably work a better deal, unless you can't find a color you want. At least from what I have experienced, in 5 years a 2018 vs 2017 difference in value will be negligible so I'd save the money now. Prepare to take a bath on selling your 2013 though because the rushmore bikes and then the M8 killed the value of 2013 and prior.

Really, no difference except paint. Some dealers still have quite a few 17's left. Keep an eye out on inventory. If you are not in a hurry, wait a bit. HD usually starts offering some incentives on leftover models the later in the year.
