The shelf life of oil is dependent upon how it is stored. In a clean, dry area where the temperature remains consistant? Many years.
Outside where the temperature can have a wide swing? Due to condensation, a lot less.
Aircraft oil has a shelf life of 5 years from manufacture date. It's stamped at the base of each bottle. It's on the cardboard case, it's on the 55 gallon drum.

I think that applies to tires.

Brad Penn used to be Kendall GT. It is a semi synthetic (blend of dino and synth) and one of the best oils there is for high performance engines. It has a very high zinc content.

I buy it by the case. I've been using it in my drag car for many many years, and is one of the few that works well with methanol fuel. Many others turn into a "chocolate milk shake" after a short time with the typical fuel contamination that is seen in methanol fueled race cars.

Now, I don't run methanol in my Deluxe, but since I buy a lot of BP, I use it in that too. Seems to work well.

On the Castrol, if it's sealed, use it.

It's no thing to me, but people around here take their oil very seriously. I think the best response would come from some of those guys that slink around the oil room.

I used to run Kendall GT1 20w50 Turbo oil in my '77 R100S BMW. I ran it hard out west in triple digit temps with over 90K on the odometer - all alone and a long way from home. That was a popular oil with the air-cooled Porsche enthusiasts.
