Counter Steering

It also holds you in the lean at speed around a turn. It is interesting to be going fast around a left turn and see the handlebar is turned, very slightly, to the right.

I think I need to proof read before I hit submit or drink less.

It's all about the 18 degrees.
Possibly one of the best threads on HDF -

Now I'm remembering where I learned about counter-steering. My bicycle taught me.
When I first tried to turn a corner with no hands, I'd lean right, and watch the bars turn left. It freaked me out a bit at first, but then I watched the bars come back to the right, and give me the right turn. I sure was glad the bike knew how to do it.

Same here. We rode our bikes for all they were worth, and learned how to go fast on them, sometimes too fast. I used to just lean to turn when riding no-handed but one day I reached out and gave the end if my Schwinn's handlebar a little nudge with my fingertip, and the bike went that way. It didn't change my "riding style" but it gave me a better understanding of how my bike worked. Back in the 1960s, everyone wanted to go fast - performance was cool.

Yes....the MikeR1 Countersteering thread. It had all the elements -
Newby initially asking for advice
Newby rejecting all advice given.
Newby telling everyone how it really works.
Epic dog pile on newby.
Snarky newby responses with diagrams to prove how it's done.
Dog pile becomes galactically huge. Mods take notice.
More diagrams.
The arrival of 1 or 2 rational members who try to support the newbie and guide him through the learning process.
Newby instinctively goes for the jugular of rational members.
Rational members bail.
Dog pile now is like the Borg - it assimilates all who enter.
Mods step up the game with sternly worded intervention - "knock it off guys or the thread is closed!"
Mods ignored by all because the goal is to get the thread closed.
Newby implodes and puts everyone on HDF on his ignore list, but continues to post his Google knowledge with, yes, more diagrams.
Yours truly inserts completely unrelated and totally stupid gifs to eat up bandwidth.
More Diagrams.
More gifs.
Did I mention diagrams?
Finally thread gets closed by Izzo who receives a record number of "Thanks".

The part I liked best of the other thread was the trap by FNGonaRK, when he asked Mike if he likes bikes.

Man.....you had the patience and composure of a saint. Not surprisingly, you would be one of the rational members.
For what it's worth, your wisdom wasn't lost on more than a few participants I'm sure. I know I learned a few things, which is nice at this stage of the game.
