I am the third person to own this bike. Having problems with clutch, grabbing when leaving a red light. Removed primary cover, took out all friction rings, and noticed the ring gear and sprocket have a wobble or side to side runout when rotating. This causes the primary chain to flex, quite a lot. Like the bearing is not seated properly in the clutch basket. Do you know of this happening to anyone else? Or is it"they all do that"?....Curtis

Had a very similar problem with my "96 after I bought it. The dealer in Florida (where the bike was purchased) said they had put a new clutch assembly in it. Turns out they forgot a spring plate. Our local shop caught the problem during routine maintenance. They added the plate and the clutch has been great ever since.

Is the clutch basket cracked or broken? That happened to my 01, and I had to replace it. About $200.00
