reckon I didn't even know they (V&H's) had a plant here in In...

I know Rush mufflers are made about 70 miles north of me and they're doing great as far as I know.

Things like this can happen for a variety of reasons, but I wonder if all of this talk about Harley not honoring warranties because of aftermarket mods isn’t harming manufacturers (especially makers of pipes/mufflers/tuners).

On a side note, I had no idea V&H was out of Santa Fe Springs, CA, which is home to Dean Moon’s Speed Shop, the birthplace of my all-time favorite car, the Shelby AC Cobra.

A lot of aftermarket exhaust companies are in Calif. some you would never expect.
Bubs. Thunderheader, V&H are just a few.

Probably result of lower all brand bike sales and the warranty loss on the 17's and 18's HD's.

What ever "This action follows a thorough evaluation of our manufacturing operations and is intended to address challenges the business changes in a rapidly changing industry," means?

I know the company I work for has laid off allot of good folks this year.
Rumors of more people being displaced have started to flow again.
Not sure if it will end in more WARN notices or not.

California Air Resources Board, same problem Rich products is currently pushing through. Rinehart has a whole page dedicated to the California regime.

My dealer in Calif sells bikes with Rinehart slip-ons on them (new bikes) but as a regular Joe, you can't call Rinehart and get anything shipped to a Calif address or purchase with a credit card with a Calif address linked to it.

Big internet retailers like Dennis Kirk won't ship to Calif either. California and a couple other states are adopting the euro4 and upcoming euro 5 emissions.
This is the Paris climate accord in action and California is attempting to follow suit.

It's not just California, all states will eventually be where we are, I'd give it 3 years max. Aftermarket exhaust will eventually be outlawed altogether or it will be no better than a stock exhaust system.

Don't have inspections in Calif either, but still can't get an exhaust that's made literally 5 miles from here.
