So I rode a new Low Rider
I Loved the Dyna Low Rider (never had one but rode one for a while).. I thought it was a terrific bike. I had the opportunity to ride an 18 yesterday, black with red/blue tank graphics. I have to say it was an absolutely terrific bike. I loved riding it. IMO, It maybe the best 'standard' HD made in years. I think the biggest issue is the name.. Its not a Low Rider.. If they called it a Softail Standard, I think that would do the trick..

Yeah I think that I'm too scared of the 18 models I am afraid if I ever throw a leg over one, I'll be hooked, and then that will be all i can think about till I take possession of a Monotail Slim. When Harley did away with the Dynas they should have done away with the softails and gave the name Monotail to every thing except their Touring bikes.

Was at the dealer Sunday. The had a new Low Rider in. Close to it was a 2017 Low Rider. You could really see the stark differences between the two. I'm sure the '18 is a nice bike, but they've screwed it's looks up in my opinion. Particularly the tank. Just doesn't look like a Low Rider anymore. Looks more like a Japanese standard or Harley want-to-be.
They also had an '18 Street Bob and Slim in. It's the first that I've seen them in person. Can't say that I dug either of them. That bobbed rear fender raised high above the rear tire. Just looks like it was an afterthought in the design. It was really noticeably odd looking at it in person - just hanging out there. May have been that way in previous years too, but I just never noticed.
The other '18's look good in person - at least to me. I'm not wild about the absurdly (arguably) wide tires on the FatBoy/Breakout, but even so they are both good looking bikes in my view. I would have been a fan of the Fat Bob in years past (and if money was no object, might have one today), but it's not my thing these day. Still like the looks though. The looks of the Heritage is growing on me. If I were to buy an '18 it would be the Heritage probably (Twisted Cherry perhaps). Haven't seen the Deluxe in person yet - but I think I'll like it too (silver/brown perhaps).
I don't know but the entry level '18 Softails (SB, LR, SS) are a miss... At least that's my reaction to them so far.
