Adjusting auxilliary lamps - special socket - Where do I get it?
Does anyone sell that special socket for use on the auxilliary lamps on the touring bikes? I know it's got a notch cut in it due to a wire that obstructs the nut for loosening the lamp/clamp or whatever... Who makes one of these? Seems to me someone makes this socket and I know some of you have even made one also.
Thanks

pull the wire out of the lamp..
tighten the bolt under there
push wire back down through
or... haha get out ur drill and drill a long socketed 1/2inch socket.. make a nice hole, file the edges so the wire wont shaft when u pull it through, push it up with the wire hanging out of the socket and tighten the ****...
if the nut is dropping down into the socket too much.. stuff some paper in there..to act like a driver..

guess u could instead.. make a nice slot in a 1/2 socket ...heh better have some decent tools to make it... maybe a plasma cutter (muhaha)
and slit half way around (so its not too weak)
the hole in the socket thing is only really good for installing a new one which isnt wired up yet...
I been googling it, cant seem to find what I am asking google heh

heheh if u got really creative you could spiral cut a 1/2 in sized socket.... so when you pull the wire down as you twist up it wont get twisted as you tighten or loosen the nut...
heh thats a lot of f'n effort tho... but could be done
how many times did I reply to this question.. i should take a picture of my drilled socket and post it...not tonight tho

Snap On sells them for about 25.00 each.
I just went to the pawn shop and got a 9/16" deep socket and cut a slot in the side of it with a dremel tool. Took about 5 minutes and cost 1.00.
If you get a 1/2" socket, you are going to have to do it twice, because the proper size is 9/16".

Did the same thing...but made a perpendicular cut also...ends up with a "T" shape...allows for a little movement when tightening. The Snap-On part you are looking for though is
