I did but kinda made me think I left too much on the table if they had no problem eating the CC fees.

My bank is out of state (service is so outstanding I don't want to change). Who doesn't have instant wire check withdraw services, or wire transfer today?

Not an issue and no they didn't even bother with that.

Not that I know. In '15 I bought my latest car. The dealership said a personal check was fine. Surprised me. Then again, I've done business with this dealer since 1992.

Cashiers check are worthless now also to many ways crooks get around it.
To purchase a new bike just a money transfer , takes minutes done.
Checking accounts have become nearly worthless. Many banks now charge them to take process the checks. Not that I agree but the way it is.
Another reason they will not take CC to buy a car or bike is they have to pay a percentage to the card company.

They did refuse the AmEx payment because of the processing fee. I actually ended up writing a check instead.

I haven't really found that to be true. I'm always behind someone who's card or mind or both is somehow fubar or a little old lady that is paying with cash that seems to be surprised that she's going to have to pay, taking 10 minutes to get her wallet and/or coin purse out of her bag to pay, then slowing counting out the $6.58 including 58 pennies.

The biggest checkout line bottlenecks are caused by those who use WIC. Find another line while the stuff is verified as WIC eligible..

Normally they have the new plate and registration sent to the dealer and will hold that hostage until the check clears.

While I understand the logic, I can't imagine anybody actually trying that.
My brother in law would do that. He's a scumbag.
