I haven't had a check in ten years...rarely have cash either...I hate places that still accept checks...because I will most certainly be in line behind them while they are writing it...

Well, I certainly agree with you in grocery and normal retail stores. However, it takes such a long time to actually buy a bike (hour or more) that I doubt the check writing time takes up much of that . . .

I actually know two people (and these are educated, affluent folks, not paycheck-to-paycheck guys) who NEVER use a credit card for gas. They stand in line inside the convenience store and pay cash. Talk about waste of time . . . and it's not because they're going in anyway for coffee.

Same here haven't use a check in a very long time, but they can run them threw pretty fast while they check the funds no one wants to take the time to do much of any thing anymore.

A couple of years ago I went into the bank to get a check for $20K. Teller behind the counter knows me . . . has greeted me out on the street away from the bank. So a suit from the inner office comes out, kind of hems and haws, tells me there's no problem, but, "You don't write a lot of checks, do you?" I said, "Nope, who writes a check any more?" Anyway, turns out they had no signature verification on file for me since it'd been so long since I wrote and signed a check. They gave me the check, and I went ahead and filled out the signature verification paperwork.

Maybe it's your credit score. Did they run a score check?

The good news is they wait until all the groceries have been run through the register before they start digging in their purse to find the checkbook.

Not anymore they cant, a bank may verify that the customers have an account, but they wont verify that a check will clear.

I bought my F250 on my AMEX a couple of year ago it was a win for me. Got the truck I wanted and banked reward point's.
