Most bikes and cars I just sign on the dotted line and drive away. I negotiate the terms I want with nothing down. Payments and interest rate are what I want and first payment is usually 30 days away minimum.

 

 

If they won't take my check, they don't get my business.

Bought a 2017 Road King in early June, walked in, wrote a check, rode it home same day.

Liked it so much I bought a 2017 Road Glide Ultra in August. Same thing. Wrote a check, rode it home.

Just how would I buy it without a check? Wire transfer? I don't make payments; never have and never will. That would imply that I couldn't afford the bike, which is a luxury, not a necessity.

 

NYS, buying a car or bike they ask for a Bank Check, no personal checks. Not a big deal as you usually don't leave with the bike the day you make the deal (or at least I don't). So the day you are picking it up get a check and away you go.

I can understand their position. That's a lot of coin if they been taken before. You can always come to my dealership. I walked in and saw my new bike sitting there and instantly knew I had to have it. 30 min later I was riding off on it while they had my personal check in full for the bike. Maybe they keep Vinnie and crew on a retainer

 

so you're saying that if I make payments I can't afford a bike??? Lol...I'm surprised that you have any money at all with that logic. I got a bike loan for 2 percent...I keep my 25k in the market earning let's say an easy 8 percent...looks like I'm up 6 percent huh? Oh not to mention it only ads to my already stellar credit rating. My "home" dealer never batted an eye when they took my personal check for for >$30,000 to purchase my then new 2009 TriGlide.
I helps when you visit the dealer more than once or twice a year.

When I bought mine (just over a month ago) they were willing to take a check but my wife was out....
They did not want to take credit card (not enough room).
So we buzzed over to the closest credit union office and picked up a cashiers check.
They offered to let me take the bike with, just like they offered to let me take it home the first time I looked at it.
I like to set my payments up to.......... one payment and done.
We have not had a car/truck/bike payment in 28 plus years.
But that would be why this is my first "new" bike.
