Most places that will accept a check pretty much has a system that hits your bank right away. We do at work. When I pay my company with a check, I can got to my bank after the A/R lady runs it and it's there, pronto. Puts a hold on those funds.

Why? because I don't want to get burned with a bounced check, and I don't typically know the buyer (If I did, it would be different). Why should the dealers be any different?
because it's their business and they have 'tools' to use that the average joe doesn't.

using your logic, why should the grocery store be any different? why should the local hardware store be any different? why should the local power company be any different? see how that works?

Quit applying logic and commons sense. It upsets those who's sole purpose seems to be to gripe about any perceived annoyance and take every opportunity to point out how much they despise the company that makes the bike they love to ride.............

You knew it would .... just like the comment earlier about writing a check for his new house ... Maybe, but why be so arrogant as to point this out ... On the other hand the house may be "new to him" ...

The new generation of emv readers are faster than the first gen. If you want fast go to contacless payment. I can tap my phone to the reader scan my thumbprint and be out the door faster than an emv transaction can even begin. I hate stopping at the convenience store and getting stuck behind someone paying cash...
