[8D] Well, it's, it's uhhhh, it's, there are a lot of purple topped snow birds that show up every year, and a bunch of college parties on South Padre during spring break.

Oh, and it's a long way down there.

Is it a nice area?
With all due respect to McAllen (go there several times a year on biz), but unless you are considering relocating there for a specific reason (employment, family, etc), there are a host of other places in Texas which - in my opinion - have much more to offer in terms of riding, scenery, quality of life, things to do, etc. etc. Merely my opinion. And again, said with all due respect to McAllen.

Nah, it's not bad. I been there a couple of times on buisness. They have GREAT Tex Mex there. A pretty good steakhouse that's not too expensive. I've also been TOLD that Stilleto's could be the top strip club in Texas.....
Close to the beach and Mexico(but only go across the border before dark). Ride Texas Magazine has a couple of good routes that go from Brownsville/McAllen to Big Bend and then there's always the ride up the coast.
I've also been told that you really have to watch out for cagers pulling out in front of you around town.

Been down there a few times.
It's nice, but I think most riders would prefer the Texas Hill Country.
I'm biased though...I ride the hill country all the time.

My parents live in McAllen and soon to be retiring to Hamilton tx. No disrespect to anyone that does live in McAllen but that part of Texas is another world in its self ! I lived there for about 2 yrs with my parents, and coming from Florida to Texas er McAllen is like moving to another country. Good luck with that [:'(] btw brush up on yur spanish yur gonna need it!!!
