I love mine too. I think the Electra Glide can keep you in the saddle for a very long time, after you would have already hung it up. I don't ever see myself on a trike though.

My 12 year old son did over 500 miles and 11 hours on the last day of our tour on the back of the bike. My wife read a book on the back of a rented one first time to sturgis. You can't do that on the back of an fj or a concourse.

I'm not saying there aren't other comfortable cruisers but for me, the EG fits the long haul bill better than any other ride.

Yup I agree with the OP. I rode a Fatboy for a couple of years and loved it but I lucked up on a 06 Electra Glide Ultra and have put 3800 miles on it in 2 months. I'm finding reasons to ride long distances.

I also own an 08 ultra and love mine as well. I have about 79,000 on it as I had about 3yrs of limited riding due to commitments with kid activities. I have rode a lot in past two yrs due to making the conscious effort of getting out more. I have outfitted my bike with everything that would make it a limited low.....just banged out 650 miles yesterday riding from shoreline n CT up to Essex Junction VT and back hitting four HD dealers along the way completing our Harley Tourcard New England.....mix of highway and backroads. It was an awesome day with friends and the bike was running flawless.....

I agree the Ultra is hard to beat doing long distance. I am however finding as I approach 63 along with being 5'7 it's not ideal in all situations. I have removed the tour pack along with anything else I could to reduce weight. I'm in pretty good shape except for some lower back pain. I'll probably stick with it as long as I can then I will downsize.

I have a 95 EG.
I added a tourpak, a radio, Arnott air ride and lowers.
The radio is almost never used.
The air ride allows me to set the ride height on the go.
I can take the tourpak and lowers off in a matter of minutes an have a street glide.

I don't have any problems flopping it around in a parking lot in either configuration.
I'm 62 and 5'6".

I have had 30 or so bikes over the years, I have lost count. A few sporty bikes, but sport touring and touring mostly, including two BMW K1200LT's. I'll take my FLHTCU over all of them.

Get her on the bike. Set the cruise. Reach back with right hand and pleasure her. She will look at it differently and want to ride the bike everywhere.
