Just smile at this clown and ask him if he knows the definition of "buffoon"... then tell him to look in a mirror.

Take him down to the nearest biker bar and leave him there. They will take care of the problem for you.

Like a couple of people have said, the way to beat him is not let him get to you.
I think I know exactly the type of guy you're describing. I've worked with people like that. Even if he's wrong he'll argue till he's blue that he's right and he'll never give you credit.
To really **** off people like that you just ignore them when they're spouting crap. Pretend he doesn't exist. If it pertains to him doing business with you be professional and answer his business related questions but ignore anything else he says.
And if it's really bad, just come right down to it and say, you don't appreciate his attitude and how he's treating you. Tell him you deserve the same respect as anyone else, regardless of education.

i like that advice for sure. ill give that a shot if i see him again

Being a campground manager, I meet people like this every week. They are usually very opinionated and rude. Tough combo to come back at . I smile, pretend to listen to everything they say, and let it ride. If they get insulting with any of my staff or other campers,I ask them to leave my park imediatly. Some people are put on this planet just to test our patience it seems. I had an employee a few years ago that would do the same thing with all of my female employees. I guess he thought he was impressing them with , in his mind, words of wisdom. I drew the line when the girls told me he was telling them how to do thier job. I finally had to tell him to keep his opinions to himself or take a walk. He shut up pretty quick and never bothered anyone again.

Doesn't work that good with a redneck in a pickup with a shotgun,though. [:@]

Good Luck
