I have a brown Schott Perfecto 125 and the HD FXRG. Both are excellent. The FXRG is my winter jacket. It's very heavy and pretty damn warm. I have ridden in the mid teens with a shirt and hoodie underneath. It is not, however, a warm+ weather jacket. That's when I wear the Perfecto. The Perfecto doesn't do well in cold weather for me.

I have several other jackets. Leather, textile and mesh. The two above are the two leather jackets I wear the most.

I can only advise on what I have - a Fox Creek Vented Racing and a HD cafe racer style (only has a small HD logo on the left chest, no billboard). I bought both of them used, the Fox Creek off of Craigslist and the HD one from the classifieds here. Both were like new when I purchased, not even broken in with that new leather smell, and both were less than half the cost of a new one.

The Fox Creek is definitely a better jacket. It is heavier, with thicker leather. It fits me better, and I like that it has a removable liner and a neck warmer. Also important to me - it is made in the USA and the people at Fox Creek are great to work with. When I bought the jacket it did not have the liner, so they made one for my jacket - had the option of vest liner or full liner with sleeves. I dropped it off at the store in southern VA when I was in the area and they shipped it to my house. They have good instructions on sizing on the web site, and as long as you are ordering a standard size I'm sure they would exchange if you got it too small or large.

The HD is a good jacket, but fits a little big on me - I have always been between a L and XL, but recently lost some weight and should have gone with a L. The leather is what I would call medium weight, but it has YKK zippers and seems well made (but is made in China). It does not have a removable liner. I may end up selling it, mainly because of the sizing.

I am the same way. Every one of my favorite shirts or Jackets have shrunk. I think my wife does it so she can go shopping for me more often. LMAO !

I'm a fan of Fox Creek. Not just because the quality of their jackets is top notch IMHO, their customer service is excellent as well. If I had unlimited funds I'd like to get a Langlitz, but in the mean time I've been very happy with Fox Creek: Jackets, Vest and Belts.

Do you like your Chippewa tall engineers? I have a pair of American-made Red Wing engineers that I love, but they are shorter than what I like for riding.

I have a pair of tall Chippewa harness boots. Pound for pound, they're the best pair of boots I've ever owned.

I've actually had pretty good luck with Harley Jackets. I bought a new one in the black hills the week before sturgis what was marked down to $200 from $500. It's heavy, has good vents, and fits well. I would never pay full pop for one, but they are good jackets. My old jacket was getting a little tight in it's old age...

Don't limit yourself to just those 2 makers.Schott has probably been making jackets longer than those 2 put together. They were the first company to use those newfangled things called Zippers on their jackets....
