With the Dyna's gone

Harley never built that either....That's one of the re-badged Aermacchi's that I referred to in my previous post, they were some of the cheesiest, poorly thought out dirt bikes to ever hit Ameican shores.
Harley, or more accurately AMF, marketed those pieces of crap for a minute in a vain effort to try and cash in on the dirt bike craze in the early 70's.
Had they not been total junk....It might have worked.

I agree, it is more of an "antique" thing than a "good bike " thing, I am thinking someone who pays three grand for one isnt riding it much anyway. I also beleive parts arent available to get a non running one running again.

Certain models, like the FXDXT are worth a lot to certain types of buyers, but that is because they were a fairly limited production bike and they are getting harder to find.

Dont know why they discontinued Dyna, but if they want they can bring them back whenever they want. On another note, the "New Hybrid " Dyna/softail bikes look pretty cool. I think the issue is the price, but everything costs more these days. I am guessing Im glad I bought mine when I did within the last 12 years. It was easy to get into the 10 grand range with Sportster back in 05, but that bought a 1200 custom back then.

They can't just "bring them back" whenever they want; that's not how motor vehicle manufacturing works.

I don't think Harley discontinues a model or a product line because it is outmoded or obsolete. At least they haven't done so up to now. They tend to discontinue them when they aren't selling. The Dynas and the old Softails were not selling in the numbers that Harley was looking for.
