As a Road Glide owner who has owned and ridden several 80s vintage Goldwings I can promise you there is no similarity whatsoever.

I think I might have to agree with you. That new Fat Bob is one badass bike. HD bikes took a huge leap forward as far as engineering. Can't wait to take one for a test ride.

The FXR was hated almost as bad back in the day as these 2018's are now...now FXR's have a cult following...mostly based on facts that are not true...the FXR was already on the test track when EB was hired by Harley.
