Yep, the Switchback could have been it. I bought a Red 1985 FXRT new just like this one and kept it 15 years:

It was in the 650-700 lb range if I remember. Never should have sold it.

Hopefully one of the "50 new bikes" will be a light tourer - maybe the long anticipated Vrod-engine-based touring bike.
I think Harley is going to need a lighter touring bike in the next few years. I've ridden the new Heritage. For solo touring it would work for me.

Last year Harley trademarked the Sport Glide name. Maybe that's the model they'll hang it on.

The above is the 1200T which they no longer offer. The 1200C can easily be made into the 1200T.

My 1200C is setup for long distances and weighs around 600 lbs wet with the windshield, bags, sissybar, rack, engine guard and other equipment.

Baka1969, love those Sportsters. They can be set up any way you want. Bars, seat, pegs, all of it can be changed and most touring equipment can be added

I've had my 2018 Breakout 114 for 4 weeks now and I couldn't be happier! 3,300 miles on her now, I know a lot of the "traditional" Breakout guys don't like this or don't like that, whatever, this bike absolutely rocks!

I agree. From an aggressive bobbed look to a mini-Road King. And everything in between. With 2.2, 3.3 and 4.5 gal tank offerings too.

I frequently have people confuse my bike for a Dyna. Which was the only other bike I would have considered. Although the Low Rider is the best looking of the current Softails (yours looks good), I'm not sure about the move. It has been growing on me somewhat.

I have to agree.

I specifically remember coming off the Monteagle Grade on I-24 Northbound at 70 mph with a cigar in my mouth and the air bubble behind that screen was so calm it didn't even blow the ash off. Aero was very good - supposedly wind tunnel tested - I dunno, that was the rumor anyway. It got very good mileage also - prob due to lower drag.

I kept it 15 years. Bought it in 1985 at Boswells HD in Nashville for $9800. Sold it to a personal friend in 2000 for $10000 cash. He rode it in our group for many years. Lost track of it lately but I'm sure he still has it and rides it. Nostalgia.
