After seeing the 2018 line-up, Are you going to buy?
#672
For the last few years they haven't made a model that I really wanted. Really, not 1 single model appeals to me out of all of that product line. The touring bikes have crossed a weight/size/complexity threshold that I can't tolerate - I just wish I could buy a 74 cubic inch tourer without a rolling disco entertainment center, with a simple compartment to store my sunglasses. I dont need 150 cubes scorching my thighs - I just putt around with the wife! I had sorta liked the FXDC but they dropped it. The Sportsters don't appeal at all with that low black chopped-up scrunched-up bent-over look. I'm not a Softail fan, so... I gotta face the fact that what they make now is not for my demographic group.
What you talking about Willis ...Scrunched-up ?
The 17 sporty is a 500+ lb boat on 2 wheels and only 4" shorter than a 17 road king,
You need to be getting them their eyes checked

Statistically, we would have to be in the minority since the poll asks how many intend to buy an '18 model. That total would necessarily include those who like them but are not prepared to buy. In fact, I'm certain that only a small percentage of Forum members would be buying in any given year, so that for example, if EVERY SINGLE Forum member bought brand new every three years (which is FAR from likely), those buying '18s would be only 33%...

I get your point and understand you calling me out, touché. I would just like to have the option to fall back on a lighter touring bike. Peace.

Harley stopped making them, but the Dyna Switchback may be right up your alley. I liked the look so much, I test rode one twice.

Oh no, far from it. Until recently, I usually bought into the latest and greatest. I have an '11 EGC. The counterbalanced motors are a dream of mine. I just wish they made a smaller engined and about 400 pounds lighter version LOL.
Yep, the Switchback could have been it. I bought a Red 1985 FXRT new just like this one and kept it 15 years:
It was in the 650-700 lb range if I remember. Never should have sold it.
Hopefully one of the "50 new bikes" will be a light tourer - maybe the long anticipated Vrod-engine-based touring bike.
