no it does not NEED rears. You would just prefer them. Pay to play. Nothing is free

Yep, Ya can't tell me that Harley can't change out some of the build materials to make ya scoot lighter with out comperizing quality and improve power to weight ratio.

I know that thay have to keep with the single crank pin design , but they can improve other areas of the motor, Like come on 65 hp from a 1200 cc engine,

The Japs , Itailains , Austrians are getting this from their 1 lung engines with ease, So Harley getting 100 hp from 1200 cc is not unobtainable.

Gee Wiz 🙄
if you do a decent atage 1, you'll be in the high 70's. Stage 4 you'll be 90-100.

those metrics and indians you are comparing have liquid cooled engines. Its not only easier to get safe power out of them, it's cheaper too. You want a flimsy sporty with a radiator? Get a streetrod 750, it's light and will shame a 1200. you want a strong bike bike that will out live gas powered vehicles and not rust into oblivion? Sporty is a great bike. Love mine to death.

Go ride a victory gunner or Indian scout both You will notice the build quality issues almost instantly. Same with the metrics... you got a good bike. If you wanted powerful cruiser , you bought the wrong bike. Should have gotten a twin cam, m8, or metric.

i think the sportster is getting a power train refresh next. At this point the stock output is pathetic.

Literally every other bike on the market with the bars and seat set up like it has rear controls. So no, of course you should feel privileged to pay Harley $700 to fix their design flaw.

Over the years I've found this guy to provide very good accurate reviews of motorcycles for Revzilla. He rides every day and is an admitted HD guy but will give you the good and bad of each bike he reviews. As with many others, the performance of these new rides are very good. If I didn't have a bike I like very much I would definately consider the new line up for the lower weight, more power, stiffer frame, and better handling & comfort.

If HD wants to convert sport bike guys, the fat bob hits the mark. Here's a video of a reviewer who's sport bike friends are trying out the 18s. They like them.

So this poll currently says 34% of folks are planning to buy a 2018 bike.

That's pretty damn good if it's representative of the wider Harley riding community. Coupled with non Harley riders buying for the first time, the MoCo's going to sell a lot of bikes this year....

I can’t believe some of the **** in this thread like bitching because there isn’t an automatic transmission. I hope that was sarcasm.

So the other 66% of non buyers don't matter ?.
Just take 66% @ 10,000 a piece for the 883 iron and that good sir is a **** ton of money the moco don't get their grubbing hands on.

It's not that 66% don't matter. No vehicle manufacturer can expect 100% of their current customer base to pull the trigger on a new ride every year, but adm is right. if 34% are ready to buy a 2018, that's HUGE for Moco. It will be considered a home run and expect more of the same in future years.

Now having said that, it's one thing to say you'll buy a 2018 model on an anonymous forum and another to actually cough up the cash at your local dealer.
