Every summer I take a 1-2 week excursion all by myself. Very little planning. Pack up camping gear and clothes. I'll decide general place I want to go, but go all by myself. I decide East, west, north, south; when to stop, when to eat; hotel or campground. No radio. Only me and my thoughts!
I am pretty much a high plains drifter, and I rarely ride with others. I like riding alone. However, I also like riding with others. Unfortunately, none of my existing friends are riders and I really haven't made many friends of riders who I do not already know. I have join the local HOG Group in the hopes of making some rider friends and we will see if that works out.
Wondering how many are ridding alone, all my buddies have hung it up most were never really into it most are scared of texting drivers. As we get older they drop out quick.
I have ridden alone for most of the 40 years I have been ridding motorcycles. When I was younger, 12-15, I rode off road with a bunch of friends. Kids on dirtbikes.
However, when I got my first streetbike in 1982 at age 16, I was the only one I knew in high school that had a streetbike. I am talking among 100s of people.
None of my friends during college had motorcycles. I did a lot of ridding with a co-worker from 2006-09. Only co-worker I have ever worked that I rode with. Only known 3 other co-workers over the years who had motorcycles but two of them barely ever rode.
I love riding with buddies but most times it ends up irritating me, alone I can reach a zen spot that isn't achievable in a group. Either way, I love to ride.
Most of the time by myself. When you go out in a group so many Ride so hard and fast. Can't seem to think there enjoying there ride. Then to bars. Hmmm let's drink and do shots then ride some more. Nah. I just go for my release and come home. A good ride clears the mind.
