I need opinions on a possible trade for a '72 FLH. Pics!!!

Just for clarity...
The bike is reportedly currently being ridden, albeit not everyday. The only known issues on the bike are the starter taking a moment to catch, and a weak battery. And who knows the starter may be due to the battery. Of course I have heard this song and dance before. But the guy is coming across as a straight shooter. I need to just get over and lay eyes on it personally. The plan is to meet this week and then I will know more.
There will definitely be test rides being done.

First off, not 80% original or correct, probably 60% if you get lucky. That said, if you can ride it and it does what it is supposed to do, $3.5k is the right # for that bike. But it is going to need TLC to be a rider. If you have 2 BMW's, probably a good trade for you. Even if it just sits in the corner of the garage for a couple of years, you will probably be able to flip it for a profit. Early Shovel prices are going up. Good luck.

You mentioned a wide glide as well, what kind of shape is it in? As much as I would like to have the 72 in my garage it will need some TLC as others have mentioned, I would not rely on it for a daily driver until you fully go through it if thats the direction you go. It is a nice shovel in my eyes.

IMO, the evo is the best engine Harley ever made. I have had shovels and I'd much prefer to have just about any evo over a shovel. With a shovel, you are in for a lot of maintenance to keep it up and running. A daily driver it isn't unless you are willing to do the required wrench turning on a frequent basis. The evo is much more dependable and requires far less wrench turning. The one you are considering is a older shovel to boot. It's your dime though. I don't think you are getting ripped on the swap but you may be biting off more than you really want to chew considering that you have a couple of projects going already. This could very well turn into project #3. Think about it and don't pick one based just on your heart. Use your head too.
