I'm looking for suggestions on places to stay for Biketoberfest. Should I stay near the track/airport or across the cosway on the beach? I'm not looking to spend more than $150/night. I will be staying Wed - Sun. I notice it gets much cheaper if you go a few miles north or south of Daytona proper. Would that put me too far out of the "action"? It will just me me and my wife.

 

Anywhere from New Smyrna to Palm Coast, you will be within a 30 min. ride to Main St.

 

Ormond Beach on A1A.

 

I prefer Ormond Beach over Daytona Shores. Main St is just a few minutes south on the bikes, Destination is a 15 minutes north. The Hilton is right on the corner of Main St but you're paying for the location. Nice to wake up and see the ocean, most hotels are around $150 a night.

 

I live in Palm Coast, and I'm 10 minutes from plenty of the action.

 

Or even a little farther north to Flagler Beach, on A1A.

 

Agreed. I rent a house here for a couple weeks every year just after spring bike week has left town.
Unfortunately for the OP, places on HomeAway or VRBO also get jacked up during events just like hotel rooms. But like Bestrafen suggests, the further away, the lower the price likely will be. I like the Flagler area just about as much as Ormond.

 

We always stay in Deland which is approx. 20 minutes west of Daytona. Hotel rate are less expensive and it is a great ride from Deland into Daytona on Route 92(International Speedway Blvd).
