OK I know it all has been asked before...
OK yes this is another post about helmets, and i have ran a search about the topic but i couldn't find a definte answers to my questions. So I will take the Ribbing about it.
So my wife is trying to purchase some helmets for us before I get home and she went to the Dealer in our Area and they started on the "we need the person here to fit the Helmet...." Well I understand that the Helmet has to fit right but the whole concept of being able to just size it off a chart and it will fit makes more sense to me and now she is all worried about buying a helmet online because of it. I know that there are rules about being able to return Helmets due to the Dealer not being able to Verify that the helmet has never been droped. So my questions are: Is it OK to buy helmets online and use a sizing chart?Keep in mind we are getting Half helmets. Also is there any other place that makes a Black Chrome helmet? Is CoolMax headliners worth it? I shave my head so I dont have much hair to worry about, but she does. I just always thought of the itisn't really important thathow the helmet fits, as it is to wear one. Hey any help from the Experts would be Cool thanks.

But if you want the helmet to have a chance to absorb the shock of your head hitting the pavement, then it really is important to have it fitted right. Seriously. Broken bones will heal, most road rashes will heal. Your head won't heal, and it's the one thing you can't live without. I'm not trying to start another helmet vs. no helmet thread, I believe in freedom and choice. If you choose to wear a helmet for its protective value, then you owe it to yourself to make sure it fits properly.
[Edit] Coming back to edit this post so you don't think I'm preachy, and so you understand what I'm trying to say. I see from your avitar that your an OIF vet. You probably spend a lot of time with PAGST or Kevlar protecting your mellon. The way it works is, your liner and headband are snug to your head, so when you take a slug to the mellon, the energy that was focused on a tiny area (the diameter of the slug) is transferred from the outer Kevlar shell to a to a much larger area (and thus diffused) via the liner and headband. Still hurts, but the energy is spread out. If your liner and headband wasn't snug, the slug would hit the Kevlar shell, and drive it into your head at that point with no opportunity for energy diffusion. Same thing with a motorcycle helmet. You want it snug, but not too snug so it gives you a headache and you end up not wearing it, and not so loose that there's no opportunity for energy diffusion. That's why fit is important. Just like when buying jeans, it's darn near impossible to just pick one off the rack based on size without trying it on first. Hope this helps...

I just recently went down with a properly fitted skid lid.Not the best protection, but you can see where the helmet drug the asphalt. If a helmet is too big, it's like having a parachute attached to the back of your head while riding.

Thousands of people order online. Most of the online retailers of these have a fit chart. Measure your head....check it twice.....and order.
Some of the above posts act like you're so incompetent that you're going to end up with a 2XL on a small head. I am sure you'll be fine.

Another thing to remember. If the helmet seems to be a little large or the padding inside isn't quite right you can do some fine tuning by going to a bicycle shop and getting some small foam pads with self stick adhesive on them that bicyclist use for their helmets.

I ordered a Scorpion EXO 200 on line and used the size chart. I measured with a cloth tape my wife uses for sewing. Helmet fit perfectly. I used to wear 1/2 helmet, but wanted more protection and went to 3/4 with flip face shield. I found the Scorpion 3/4 provided more air flow to the head than my 1/2 helmet did.
