2000 Buell Lightning
#4
I had an 06 lightning that I loved. I'm more of a cruiser guy so I went back to Harley. Parts and service are going to be difficult to find but for the most part not impossible because nothing on there is truly proprietary except maybe some plastics. Buellxb.com is a good source for good people and advice. I was on there a log when I had my Buell.

Nothing should be too hard to find as far as parts go. Bad Weather Bikers is a great source of knowledge.
As far as things to look for, check out the exhaust mounts. Pretty good chance it is cracked.
Another big one is the shock eyelet. They had a recall in the summer of 2000 and wouldn't sell any new ones until the fix was performed. You can have them pull the VIN or if there is a "strap" of metal around the shock eye it has been fixed. The better fix is a Penske shock, they put a bunch on Buells that year.
Buell was offering a hop up kit that year that they pretty much threw in with the bike. Came with an exhaust, hi-flow filter, and a race ECM.
Very torquey bike that wheelied easy so the steering head bearings may be beat up.
