I was just looking around at tire prices and just can't believe that they just keep going up and up . And for what 7/32 of tread that only last 15,000 mile at best . $200 bucks should = A 25,000 mile tire that has 3/8 tread depth .
I do like a name brand tire but $200 for a rear tire is making look at the Shinko's for 1/2 the price !

In a word, YES.

When it cost just as much to put 2 tires on my bike as it cost to put 4 on my 4 wheel drive truck, something ain't right. AND, I will get 50,000 miles on my truck tires.

I thought the price of bike tires were out of hand till I found a store online with good prices, almost half the price and with free shipping. Then I tried to get them mounted and was quoted highly inflated prices from many bike shops because "we didn't make a profit selling you the tires". I found a guy who does it at a reasonable price in his garage in his spare time.

This year I had to replace both tires, I save a little over $500 Canadian. I don't mind paying a bit of a premium when shopping local but that's a bit too much. I plan on equipping the garage with a NoMar tire machine before my next tire change.

I don't see any difference from the last couple Harley pairs I've bought. Checked Dennis Kirk, tires for my Tour Glide are still a bit under $120, except for whitewalls and Dunlops, which I wouldn't buy anyway. That's less than the tires for my pickup cost. I buy online and install my own motorcycle tires, but but of course buying and having them changed at a dealer is incredibly more.

I found a used Cycle Hill, NoMar's budget line, for less than half new price, and have changed enough tires with it the savings over dealer prices would pay for a new better model. I expect you'll like it.

Go to a metric dealer, my local one's prices are waaaaaay cheaper! I got a Dunlap half the price of the Harley Dunlap. I don't need my tires to say Harley!

Try pricing a 250mm tire. That's what I have on mine and they only last 8,500 miles.

Wink Find a good indie...

My indie says he can't make any money selling tires so he just tells me to buy on the internet and bring it to him. He mounts the rear for a flat $75 and the front for $50. He checks everything out when they are off which is always a good thing. Got 15,000 out of my last Metzler ME 888 rear and have yet to wear out the front.

Those prices for you bring the bike in and they remove, check everything out, mount and balance and replace? That's not bad at all. I think I paid $70 for 2 tires mounted (I use ride on so no balance needed) last time I took them to my indy and I removed and replaced. Last time I took them to my buddys lot and we mounted them ourselves.
