RKC vs Rocket III
While in getting some parts orderd for my old jap bike, I noticed this super looking bike they had on display. A TriumphRocket III ClassicTourer. WOW..what a bike. 2294cc's and just looked MEAN. Anyone familar with these bikes? How are they compared to an RKC? I know it;s not a HD, but man this is the only non-Harley bike to ever make me hesistate. Any and all constructive commnets are welcomed. I need the advice of the pro's here!
Here's the specs on that bike: http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/4666.aspx

not really my style, but it's what YOU like.
I'm thinking most people here are a little biased toward HD, not sure why that's the case though [>:]

Yeah..just was wanting any input on if they are a good bike or not. One thing I am kinda leery on is the tank makes it seems very high centered. 6.3 gal tank. BIG sucker.

They just did a 4 bike comparison in Cruiser bike mag. Pretty informative. I personally like the bike. Those that have rode or own them say the 4th and 5th gears are redundant.

Am I using a word wrong? I hate that. Not needed. They said that by 3rd, it was fast enough.
If you go to sturgis this year, pack a helmet and they'll let you ride one.

I don't like the looks of the Rocket III, but I would love to ride one. I don't like the asymetrical gas tank. The motor looks like something off a tractor. Why don't you go ahead and get one, and then let me take it for a joy ride.
As far as a comparison to a Harley, I suppose the Rocket III would pretty much trounce whatever you put up against it in terms of performance. Performance ain't everything though- we'd all be riding ZX14's and Hayabusa's if that's what truly mattered. If you like the look of the bike, go for it. Triumphs get more respect from the Harley crowd than Japanese bikes, for whatever reason- probably because of the original styling, but that's just a guess. My bro has a Thunderbird- it's been a solid reliable machine for about 4 years now.
